Welcome to Bridgman Public Schools!

"Together, challenging our children to succeed."

Thank you for your interest in Bridgman Public Schools. Our vision is: "Together, challenging our children to succeed," and our mission is: "The Bridgman Public School Community will provide opportunities for lifelong learning." We hope that this web site is a useful source of information about our school district.

All of our schools have been accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) for school improvement.  In addition, Bridgman Elementary was selected as a Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School in 2001.  Each of our schools has made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as required by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and has achieved a grade of "A" on the Michigan School Report Card.  Our district MEAP and MME test scores are consistently among the top schools in Berrien County.  We are proud that 289 students from 11 different school districts have selected Bridgman Public Schools as their Schools of Choice district.

Community Budget Survey (new 2/2/10).

Due to unexpected cuts in state funding, the Bridgman Board of Education would like to receive your input on areas of potential budget reductions in preparation for the 2010-11 school year.  (These cuts are not related to the $22 million bond proposal that was approved by the voters last November). Click on the link below to take the Community Budget Survey.  The survey is anonymous and will be available through Feb. 28, 2010.  It may only be taken once per computer station.

SOS

Save Our Students, Schools and State

Students, schools and our state are in danger.  Michigan's economic situation and the inability of state government to resolve the problem have caused the largest cuts in K-12 education funding in Michigan's history.  Schools will be forced to cut programs, personnel and services which directly affect students unless the budget is restored and a more stable state funding system is found.  (The operating funds that Bridgman Public Schools receives from the state is unrelated to the $22 million bond proposal that passed on Nov. 3rd).  Our legislators need to hear from you in order to prevent drastic cuts to Bridgman Public Schools.

Shop in Michigan to Support Our Schools

The primary funding source for the Michigan School Aid Budget is sales tax. That means that every time we buy a product in Michigan, the sales tax that we pay is helping to support our schools. But living in a border county means that we often feel the lure to do our shopping in South Bend, Michigan City, or even Chicago. What many of us don’t realize is that shopping in Indiana or Illinois ultimately takes money away from our children’s education.

This year’s state budget crisis has resulted in catastrophic funding cuts for Michigan’s public schools. And by all projections, next year will be even worse. Many people are beginning to question our state’s tax structure, and are looking at reform options that will provide a more stable base of funding for our schools.

Please consider shopping in Michigan and ask your family, friends and neighbors to do the same. -Help save our students, schools and state.

Bond Project

The Bridgman Board of Education would like to thank all district taxpayers who voted in favor of the bond proposal.

The facility upgrades and technology updates will benefit the students of our district for years to come. Click on the links below to determine your tax increase (if any), and to view the bond project schedule.
