Community Swim Lessons
The Bridgman Aquatic Center strives to provide the highest quality swim lessons possible. Our expectation is that class participants be able to listen, follow instructions, and participate safely in class.
Summer 2020 Session:

Class levels are determined by the following criteria:
Parent/Child Classes:
Aqua Infant: (6-24 months) Child is introduced to water with a parent. Basic water adjustment with parent instruction.
Aqua Tot: (18 months -4 year-olds) Child is introduced to water with a parent. Techniques are used to get the child accustomed to water and ready to join Level 1.
Classes for ages 3-5 years old:
Level 1: (Beginning level) Swimmers will be adjusted to water with a flotation device, learn beginning front crawl, backstroke and floating, as well as learning how to submerge their face and basic water safety.
Level 2: (Intermediate level) Swimmers will start with flotation and work their way out of it while building on floating, front crawl and backstroke skills learned in Level 1.
Level 3: (Advanced level) Swimmers will progress in the skills previously learned with a focus on rotary breathing and endurance.
Classes for ages 6-12 years old:
Level 1-2: (Beginning level) Swimmers will learn how to float, front crawl, backstroke and elementary backstroke. Basic water safety will be taught as well.
Level 3: (Intermediate level) Swimmers will build on the skills taught in level 1-2 with a focus on rotary breathing and endurance. Don’t forget we teach water safety in every level!
Level 4: (Intermediate/advanced level) Swimmers will continue to build on front crawl and backstroke skills and endurance. They will learn basic breaststroke and butterfly skills.
Pre-Team: (Advanced level) Swimmers will continue to build on all skills learned in past levels with a focus on technique and endurance.
Sea Bees Swim Club will be offering a stroke clinic in April for previous Sea Bee swimmers, High School swimmers, and the equivalent level swimmers from any program, are welcome as well. See below for more details.

Competitive Aquatics Programs
Community Diving Lessons
Bridgman Aquatic Center’s Diving program is open to divers of all ages and all levels. Divers will learn basic and advanced techniques, improve existing skills and build confidence on the diving board. Sea Bees Swim Club
Sea Bees Swim Club is a competitive age group swim team for children ages 6-18. The club competes in the Southwest Michigan Swim League and also participates in USA Swimming sanctioned swim meets. Sea Bees has a Spring Stroke Clinic, Summer Session and a Fall/Winter Session. You may access the current season information by clicking the quick link at the top of the page. Recreational Programs
Family Recreation
Fun for the whole family and a great activity on a rainy day! We offer a variety of times available throughout the week. Please access our fees and pool schedule above by clicking the quick link at the top of the page. Please note: Children under the age of 8 years old must have an adult in the water with them unless they are able to swim the length of the pool acceptable to the staff on duty. We do not allow equipment use during Family Rec. We allow the use of flotation devices that attach to the child’s body but do not allow noodles, rings, or blow up rafts.
Pool Rental
Great for Special Occasions! Rentals are held on Saturday’s from 2:00-3:00 pm. Fee: $75 ($100 for non-residents of Bridgman or Lake Township). The rental fee includes use of the balcony prior to swimming. If your swimming party has a party over 20, we will require an additional fee of $25 for an extra lifeguard. Please contact the Aquatic Center for availability.
Fitness Programs
Deep Water Aerobics
The class is designed to tone and raise the heart rate. This class is held in deep water with no impact, using hand bells and noodles. Great class for cross training. Class is held Monday – Friday 7:30-8:30 am. Please see above price list for fees.
Shallow Water Aerobics
This class is designed to focus on cardio health, stretching, and toning. This class is held in the shallow water and includes low-impact aerobic exercise. Class also uses hand bells, noodles, kick boards, and water fans. Classes are held Monday – Friday 8:30-9:30 am. There is also a Monday & Wednesday evening class 7:30-8:30 pm. Arthritis Class
The class is designed to enhance range of motion. We are a full access facility. You will enjoy this class for non-impact walking and simple exercises with the support of the water. Class is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:30-10:30 am. Please see price list for fees.
Adult Lap Swim
Get in shape by swimming laps or loosen up muscles and joints by water walking. We offer various times throughout the day 7 days a week. Please access the pool schedule for times by clicking the quick link at the top of the page. Please see price list for fees.
Community Weight Room & Pool Workout Equipment Area
The community weight room are is available to community members as well as Aquatic Center annual pass holders. There are various free weights, lat pull-down machine, spinning bike and elliptical available for use in the pool balcony. The community weight room is fully stocked with cardio equipment and weight machines of the highest quality. You may purchase a punch card for $20 for 30 visits or pay $1 each time you use the facility. Aquatic Center annual pass holders may use the community weight room and pool balcony workout area for free. Aquatic Center balcony equipment is available for use when the Aquatic Center is open.

Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED Classes
Bridgman Aquatic Center has several instructors that teach Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED certification through the American Red Cross. We run classes for the initial certification as well as re-certification. Fees are as follows: Initial Lifeguarding Certification $250, Lifeguarding re-certification $100. CPR/First Aid/AED initial certification $125, re-certification $75. The fees include book, pocket mask, and certificate from American Red Cross and facility use/instructor time.
